Book Description

Immerse yourself in the art of botanical painting with 12 exquisite, step-by-step projects designed to capture the beauty of each season.

This beautifully crafted guide introduces:

  • Sandrine's ethical approach to materials, including sustainably sourced paper, cruelty-free brushes, and eco-friendly paints
  • A comprehensive overview of botanical painting tools, workspace setup, and foundational techniques for botanical watercolours
  • Colour theory insights specific to botanical subjects, including how to create realistic shadows without unnatural greys.

Organised by season, each chapter offers unique techniques to bring life to seasonal plants, like delicate spring bulbs or vibrant winter berries, paired with Sandrine’s own inspiring botanical artwork.

Step-by-step tutorials provide:

  • Beginner, intermediate, and advanced options within each chapter
  • Seasonal inspirations like spring daffodils, summer sweet peas, autumn ginkgo leaves, and a stunning winter holly star composition.

With a foreword by Tom Brown, Head Gardener at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation, this book invites readers to embrace the beauty of nature through painting, whether they follow it seasonally or focus on their favourite plants. Let this guide inspire your creative journey and deepen your connection to the natural world.
