It's all in the detail with this unique book, as designer Irem shows you how to draw attention to your garments with embroidered buttons, badges, pins and patches. Small is beautiful in this innovative book which shows you how to make buttons, patches, pins and badges to dress up any outfit. You dont even need to be a skilled embroiderer as all the projects use just seven easy-to-learn stitches.

I saw somebody wearing one of these wee felt pins recently and instantly wanted one. Then I saw one on a greetings cardthis book shows four ways of making tiny works of wearable art. Use mini embroidery hoops, button and tie tack making kits or just make into patches and sew on. This is a great way of using up oddments of fabric, felt and floss as well as odd beads and sequins. Inside the back cover is an envelope containing five sheets of iron-on transfers. Each section contains several projects listing what you need and stitches used, plus staged photographs for some of them. Quite a few are very simple and dont require this, also it is easy to get the hang of how to make up the items plus there are stitch diagrams for reference. As well as the transfers there are templates for tracing and resizing instructions. All the threads used are listed (DMC) and there are additional directions for using freezer paper, carbon paper, stabilisers and more. So dont throw away those tiny scraps as you can give them a new life decorating your clothes.

Postcard Reviews

This beautiful book of embroidery is quite divine. 20 projects with 5 sheets of iron-on transfers are small but perfectly designed. Used as clothing embellishment they can give an edgy look to a frayed denim jacket, or a badge for your tote bag. There is a very handy 'how to' demonstrating how to make badges and buttons, as well as a basic embroidery technique guide. But do you know what I loved most about this book..well you do not need to be a fabulous embroiderer!! I think the more 'rustic' your work, the better these tiny projects will look. There are lots of templates too, that can be traced, and with the addition of sequins and beads, your final piece will be the envy of every trend setter.

Each project has a 'process' to follow, with types of stitch used and colour inspiration. The designs are all different in style and variation and each can be changed and adapted as you work your way through each of them. This is a good way to learn new stitches and practice your embroidery without being overwhelmed with a large project. Pretty cool!!
