I think the book is brilliant, even for a beginner like me! The basic teaching instructions at the start of the book are so helpful. A great choice of projects to build my skill level in fun and innovative ways!

Another hit with me, this book is crammed with tips and techniques. There is something for everyone in it, including things to keep the little ones happy, for the man who likes to BBQ, for a garden party or picnic. The book boasts easy-to-follow instructions and step-by-step pictures. Beginners and expert sewers will all love this book.

A lovely book filled with charming projects to take your outside entertaining to another level. From a sophisticated afternoon tea to keeping small people amused or picnicking in the park there are plenty of ways to show off your creativity to your friends.
The book starts with some useful guidance for beginners and a list of tools and equipment needed for the projects. New sewers should be able to tackle the quicker projects which will boost confidence before moving on to the other items.
There are clear photos showing each step, full size templates (it irritates me no end when you have to scale templates up or down) and handy tips dotted throughout the book.
I wish I had this book before I spent a fortune on buttoned seat pads!

Another clear, concise, well illustrated and easy to follow book from Debbie Shore. From the contents page to the actual size templates included in this book it has been well thought out and invites you to try the projects - which could equally well be used inside or as gifts. The easy to follow instructions and photographs make understanding the processes for a not so confident sewer easier and, bonus - there's no paper patterns involved! Can't wait to make the Tic-Tac-Toe game!

Book is fantastic and challenges you to create items that perhaps you would not normally make. As per all previous books Debbie Shore's instructions are clear. Will enjoy crating items from the book in the future for family and friends.

Debbie Shore will admit herself that her books are aimed for the beginner through to the more experienced makers. She provides clear instructions and accompanying photographs that give a step by step guide of how to approach her projects. She provides lots of technique pages and suggests suitable materials and tools. The projects are aimed at families from the teepee and tic-tac-toe game for children, the picnic and BBQ accessories and all the table dressings and decorations for formal dining and family celebrations. Once familiar with the skills and techniques all the projects are achievable over a weekend. Happy Stitching everyone!

I was very fortunate to be chosen to review Debbie Shore's latest book, Sew Outdoor Living. I looked forward to it arriving through the post with great anticipation and was not disappointed when it arrived. As usual Debbie has presented the projects clearly and concisely and as always with Search Press the paper used is very good quality, making the whole feel of the book very pleasurable. On my first flick through the book I saw several appealing projects; the bunting in a bag would make a nice gift, the teepee would be perfect for keeping small children entertained and shaded while outside, the tic-tac-toe game in a bag ideal for picnics... A more detailed look later found me promising myself I would make the patchwork picnic mat and a placemat or half a dozen. I have shown the book to a number of friends who have all picked out their favourite projects, one chose the bottle tote, another the picnic caddy, someone else selected the heart decorations for an informal wedding party, it seems Debbie Shore has created something for everyone in this book.

This is a nice book if you are a beginner sewer or need ideas to turn your sewing to making your outdoors a uniquely personal place to be. The book has lots of basic skills advice which is very useful to those of us knew to using fabrics these way. There is advice on fabrics, sewing techniques, what equipment you need. Each project is clear and easy to follow. I particularly want to create fitted chair cushions, loving the tips for making them fit perfectly whatever the chair shape, how to make a wigwam (who doesnt want their own wigwam?) and the tic-tac-toe game, which I plan to scale up to make a picnic-mat-come-game-of-draughts! Maybe even bug chess eventually! Whether you follow the patterns faithfully or use them as a springboard to more adventurous designs it is beautifully illustrated. I suspect experienced sewers might find it somewhat simplistic but for me, I am loving it!
