Add to Basket
Book Description

Maria Angela Carlessi presents 15 colourful animals and creatures to make. Using triangular paper folds to construct impressive, modular designs.

3D origami is a new and original technique that doesn't require any special skills just a little patience. While traditional Japanese origami is a well-known technique, this clever adaptation uses individual triangular folds to construct impressive, modular designs.

Maria Angela Carlessi shows you how to create a colourful range of animals and creatures. There are 15 projects to choose from including rabbits, owls, squirrels, dogs, cats and even a tortoise. Each project comes with detailed instructions making them easy and fun for papercrafters of all skill levels.

What an amazing book! This is very detailed and the finished products you can achieve just by paper is amazing, lovely colourful book easy to follow instructions.. 10 out of 10.. definitely my new hobby... aside from cakes lol

A colourful book in a handy size full of clear photo's and concise details giving a unique new twist to the art of Origami. You can make 15 cute creatures that will fascinate and delight. Try it yourself or get the youngster to try something new, with a bit of practice they should find this book easy to follow. I particularly like the Swan, all you need is some paper and you are set to go.

Lisa Handley

It is a very nice book, informative and detailed instructions. A bit of work will be involved for each make but the effort will be worth it.

Natalie Morrison

The book is so descriptive and the multitude of photos help you catch the bug of 3D origami straight away! I love many crafts and have many books, but this has truly stood out as one of my favourites as it is so helpful. Lovely characters to create. Children could even help towards making the components. Well worth a look!

The Papercraft Post

At last! A book on Golden Venture Origami    a big thank you, to author  Maria Angela Carlessi.  Ive been meaning to spotlight this nifty 3-D paper folding technique, which uses interlocking triangles to build up a project.  It requires time and patience which I guess fits in with the mindful crafting vibe.  The author is the proprietor of a craft shop in Italy. She was looking for a technique to attract her customers and she got hooked on this intriguing origami variation.

The projects are all twee creatures so this book would be an ace pre-half-term purchase. (Cutesy animals do seem to be a primary end product of Golden Venture.) Even if cute animals are not your thing, the basic how-tos at the front-of-the book are a goldmine of well-presented technique info. So... you can learn the basics and take the craft wherever you want to go. There are clear photo step-by-steps accompanied by text.

The author does a really good job of incorporating pattern and colour into her projects. (I can see how the run-up to a colour change would engender crafty anticipation, as in knitting or crochet!) The Swan with the diamond motifs is a prime example of this. ( BTW, Golden Venture swans are a thing and Maria Angela Carlessis one is just right colourful and not too intricate.)

My favourite projects are the previously-mentioned Swan, the Tortoise, the Owl, and the Squirrel. These are charming without being too twee.
It is fascinating how curvilinear shapes can be built up from interlinking triangular pockets.

For a clear introduction to a papercraft variation that is growing in popularity, 3D Origami fills the bill.
