I found this book handy with guidance on stitches and easy to follow patterns too! I'm a beginner and this has helped me start and now looking forward to the next pattern to start! With 60 patterns there are plenty of great designs to try out

Now is it time to make a New Year's resolution and this excellent book is a good way to start. It introduces the reader to the art of crochet with a chapter on how to do the basic stitches and then gives us over 60 projects to work from. Coasters, scarves, slippers, bags, bed-covers and many more delightful patterns are clearly laid out with colourful photographs showing what the results should look like. The pattern instructions themselves are well laid out and easy to follow. A first-class introduction to this worthwhile hobby.

The front of the book and the title really do express what is held within. It's the kind of book that everytime you pick it up, it will make you smile. There are over 60 fun and colourful patterns held within and they cover everything from hats, scarves, blankets & pillows. There are patterns for all ages and they are at a level that a beginner can make them. That doesn't mean to say more experienced crocheter won't enjoy them. The projects are fun and interesting and are sure to brighten up anyone's day. I love the fact that there are even embellishments such as flowers that you can use to brighten up anything. There are instructions at the start of the book, explaining each of the stitches used and how to crochet them. The instructions include illustrations to make them easier to follow. I don't use enough colour and this book really inspires me to bring even more into my house. I'm also making a pillow for my gran so that she has something to brighten up her day. The projects are perfect to make for gifts for friends and family. I have already made some coasters that will brighten up the living room in spring. There are fun projects but also practical ones that you can use around the house.
I especially love the stool cover and the fun pot holders. As soon as my niece is old enough I'm going to make her a dress & cardigan. I think she'll look so pretty in beautiful bright pink. This is an amazing mix of patterns that are fun, bright & beautiful.

Inside Crochet

Issue 73

It might be the middle of winter, with everything outside cold, da4rk and gloomy, but there's no reason it has to be dull inside when we can crochet our own accessories and homewares in cheerful colours and vibrant shades. The ethos behind Happy Crochet , subtitled 'Over 60 bright and colourful projects to make you smile' - and they certainly do! There's a lot packed into this small book from granny square throws and cushions in gorgeous colour combinations to cheery shawls, rain legwarmers for little ones and pretty yet practical market bags. Our favourite is probably the gorgeous retro style bags for toddlers but it's a tough choice! The chapters take you from decorations and homewares through seasonal accessories - 'Spring Fresh and Fine', 'Autumn Lovely and Winter Warm', then 'It's Christmas Time Again', so no matter what time of year you'll find the perfect project to hook. Patterns are clearly written out with plenty of bright close-up photography. The book includes basic crochet instructions as well as an introduction to working and joining granny squares, so this would make a great gift for anyone to take up crochet in the New Year.
